There’s something about film photography that feels like coming home.

I still remember the feeling the first time I shot a roll of film – the sound of the shutter, the gentle winding of the roll, the quiet excitement of not knowing exactly what I had captured yet. It felt different from digital in every way. It was slower, more intentional, and more alive.

Film, to me, is so much more than just a medium. It’s a feeling.

There’s a nostalgia to it that I can’t quite put into words, but I feel it every single time I load a roll into my camera. Maybe it’s the grain, the softness, or the way light wraps itself around a moment so beautifully. Every image feels like a memory already lived, even if it was taken only seconds before. I love that film asks me to slow down.

In a world where everything is immediate, film gives me permission to be present. Each frame matters. I’m not taking hundreds of photos and checking the back of my camera after every shot. Instead, I’m trusting my eye, my instincts, and the moment unfolding in front of me.

That process has taught me so much – not only as a photographer, but as a person. Film has taught me patience.

There’s something so special about waiting for your photos.

In the beginning, that waiting felt hard. I was so used to instant results and immediate feedback. But over time, I began to love the anticipation. The waiting became part of the story.

Days later, when I finally receive the scans, it feels like reopening a memory. I get to experience those moments all over again – the laughter, the movement, the emotion, the light. Sometimes the photos turn out exactly how I imagined, and sometimes they surprise me in the most beautiful ways. Film helps me embrace the imperfection and rawness of our lives.

I think that’s why I love film so deeply. It reminds me that beautiful things take time.

It teaches me to trust the process, to embrace imperfection, and to find joy in the unknown. Film feels honest to me. It captures moments with a kind of soul that feels timeless.

For me, it’s never just about the photo. It’s about the story, the feeling, and the art of waiting long enough to truly appreciate the moment. I truly believe that once you experience film photography it's hard to go back to not having it.
