Your Story in Every Frame

Your engagement session is designed to reflect your love with intention and ease. This guide has been thoughtfully curated to prepare you for every aspect of your session – from what to expect and how to prepare, to subtle details that help create imagery that feels effortless and refined. My goal is for you to arrive feeling confident and relaxed, trusting that every detail has been considered so we can create timeless images that feel elevated and authentically you.

What's your vibe?

Your engagement session should feel like you. Whether your style leans elegant and editorial, cozy and intimate, outdoorsy, in-home, laid-back, or western, this guide will help define the atmosphere that fits you best. The goal is imagery that feels intentional, effortless, and true to who you are together.

Location, Location, Location

I always encourage couples to think outside the box. Maybe you or someone in your network can secure a location that would otherwise be off-limits. A beautiful private estate, cute Airbnb, family ranch, upscale hotel, or even a private hangar can create a truly distinctive and elevated backdrop!

From there, we’ll begin by considering where you’re based and thoughtfully plan around your area, drawing from a curated selection of beautiful locations throughout Ventura County and beyond. Once we’ve narrowed the region, we’ll refine the setting – whether you’re envisioning the coast, open fields, or architectural, urban surroundings – always with beautiful light and a timeless result in mind.

What to Wear

Your outfits should always make sense for the location, with comfort as a top priority. I recommend leaning toward neutral and earthy tones and avoiding bright, dominant colors.

Neutrals aren’t limited to creams and browns; opt for softer shades like forest green, deep maroon, or mustard for a refined look. Texture is also key - knits, linen, silk, or subtle layering add depth and dimension on camera.

I love capturing movement in my imagery, so flowy, lightweight fabrics that catch the wind are always a win. Stiffer materials tend to restrict movement and comfort, while softer fabrics help create natural, dynamic, and timeless images.

Tip: White is timeless & feels inherently bridal!

Make the Session Uniquely Yours

To make your session feel uniquely yours, consider bringing a few meaningful accessories that reflect your story. Whether it’s a musical instrument, a vintage camera, or a cherished family heirloom, these details add authenticity and depth to your images.

For a romantic, editorial feel, you might include a bouquet of flowers, a beautifully styled picnic set, or a few favorite books or records. If you have access to a vintage car, motorcycle, or another special vehicle, incorporating it can create a truly distinctive and unforgettable moment.
